About the event

PFAS are man-made chemicals used in industry since the 1940's and found in everything from Teflon to ScotchGuard to fire retardant. They can be found in:

  • non-stick cookware,
  • water-repellent clothing,
  • stain-resistant fabrics and carpeting,
  • cosmetics, and
  • a lot more.

PFAS chemicals don't break down, they accumulate in watersheds, fish, game, and people . . . and they can kill you and your kids. The Snyder administration waited years to heed warnings about PFAS dangers. Today, the response by Michigan's DEQ is a bit of a miracle -- Michigan leads the way in shining a light a problem the nation must face.

Michigan DEQ Remediation and Rehabilitation District Supervisors Abigail Hendershott (Grand Rapids) and Randy Rothe (Gaylord) will educate us about PFAS and Michigan's response. They'll cover the basics of PFAS in our environment and the response by Michigan's "PFAS Action Response Team.

Q & A session follows so come prepared!

Your $13.50 donation covers food, beverages and tip and is payable at the door. Please us me know if you have any dietary restrictions. Please RSVP by 2/14.
